Meets

The bi-monthly meets form the focal point of the SLD activities. We typically meet the last Saturday of every second month from Sept through to May each year (Sept, Nov, Jan, Mar & May).

Though the format and content of the meets will vary from time to time, the general theme involves a series of clinics in the morning followed by a tour of some local layouts. As we are a “hands on” club, the topics are typically geared towards modelling skills and ideas.

A display table is set up to showcase models in progress or completed.

Meet Schedule

Even before the current meet has taken place, we are busy planning the next one! Mark these dates in your calendar to make sure you don’t miss any.

The meets are typically scheduled for the last Saturday of alternating months and run from about 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. We often use a hall at the Emmanuel United Church (691 Smyth Road) with an occasional meet at other locations in the region such as the Smiths Falls Railway Museum.

For the 2023/24 season, we are taking a different approach to our meets & workshops.
Instead of alternating between Meets and Workshops each month, we will gather every month where the morning will be a traditional meet (clinics, display table, etc) and the afternoon will be a Kit Busters Workshop. This change in format will allow members to practice what they learned in the morning clinic on their diorama in the afternoon.
