March 27th, 2010 Meet


Enclosed are some photos from the March Meet.

The Facilities

What was billed as a clinic on the Canada & Atlantic by Ron Newby was quickly exchanged to a very informative presentation on hand laying track by Ron.

The Display Table

An idling work horse. Bob Farquhar provided this photo of a VIA engine that Bob describes as a "yellow & blue engine with all wheel drive and self powered".

Ron Newby had two wall castings on display (plaster on left, resin on right) demonstrating how the same painting techinque produce different results depending on the base material.

Grant Knowles had two really slick locomotive carrying cases for sale. These are sized to handle the largest of the Canadian steam engines. Contact Grant directly if you would like to purchase one.

Grant K also had two photos on display, Shays at the Cass Scenic RR (lower photo) and Eureka & Pallisades 3' narrow gauge (upper photo).

David Steer has commenced work on assembling another Backwood Miniatures kit. This on is of the Darjeeling-Mimalayan Railway 2ft gauge Garratt 0-4+4-0.

Fo the March Meet, we will be congregating at:

Location: The Emmanuel United Church
691 Smyth Road, Ottawa

The church is located in the north corner of Smyth and Dauphin Roads, just east of the CHEO Hospital.

The program for March will consist of two clinics in the morning.
The afternoon will include visiting two local layouts. Maps will be provided at the meet.


The subject for the January Display table is Photographs of Model and Prototype trains.
Of course you are welcome to bring out anything RR related!


The entry fee is $5.00 at the door. NMRA members can join the SLD / NMRA and enjoy all of its benefits for a nominal fee and guests are always welcome.
